The Level 3 Certificate in Salon Management (QCF) is a qualification that has been specifically designed for stylists and beauty therapists working in the hair and beauty related industry, who want to move into first line salon management. This qualification is suitable for hairdressers, barbers, beauty therapists and nail technicians.

The qualification I delivered by experienced beauty therapy professionals with over 30 years experience managing their own salons as well as teaching beauty therapy level 4.

This qualification is recognised as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a hair or beauty salon manager. This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA), the standard setting body for hair, beauty, nails and spa qualifications.

Why is this qualification most suitable?

This qualification requires learners to develop a greater breadth of business skills and will benefit any stylist or beauty therapist planning on going into management of a business or running one themselves.

What does this qualification cover?

This qualification has been specifically designed for the 19+ age groups, builds on existing knowledge and understanding of hair and therapy skills and will develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare learners for employment in management. Learners will have their skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.

This qualification will require research, it includes monitoring and recommending improvements to; health and safety practices in the salon, the effective running of your business and the all important area of human resource management. These units are mandatory.

From the optional unit section of this qualification the learner has the opportunity to select an area of study which is most relevant to their business needs. This could be; IT and data handling, salon design or marketing for the hair and beauty sector – the full list of optional units is presented in the learner Record of Assessment book (ROA) (specification). This qualification’s structure provides learners with the flexibility to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills depending upon their designated career pathway in a management position.

What could this qualification lead to?

When the learner has successfully completed this qualification they will be in a position to move into paid employment as a salon manager or accept additional responsibilities within their salon.
